Gar-field HS

Indians ︎ Gladiators

Gar-field being on the list of schools kind of surprised me as I knew a few people who attended the school but never really knew what the mascot was. Early on, I was having trouble coming up with a new mascot. Prince William County is very big and a few of the initial ideas were already taken by other schools. However, my research led me to the Gar-field motto, “School of Champions”. Using this new found info I dove headfirst into researching what a “champion” could be, and many of the results brought up a type of gladiator with a special skill set that was often referred to as a champion. I did some more research into what a champion looked like and made the new logo based on the helmet design.

-- It was announced on March 15th, 2021, Gar-Field was going to remove the “Inidans” icon and mascot at the end of the year.

-- This is Project 12-32’s email, sent April 26th, to Prince William County Public Schools with a proposed name change.

THE NEW IDENTITIES

The seven high schools I choose to rebrand are Monocan, Fort Defiance, Gar-field, Northumberland, Southampton, Kecoughtan, and Magna Vista. Each new icon has some sort of significance to the school or the area the school is in.
